Special Ideas and Suggestions of Cambodia

Phnom Penh

Cocktail at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Cambodia

The Foreign Correspondents Club of Cambodia (better known as the FCC) is the most popular restaurant / bar in Phnom Penh.  Located directly on the riverfront, it is a great spot to wind down after an exciting day and see the world pass by. Climb up to the rooftop terrace in the late afternoon and enjoy the great view over the riverfront and the Tonle Sap while a refreshing drink will be served.

Cyclo Tour

Visit the Royal Palace, on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda. Located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures found inside include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90kilos and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. Continue the cyclo tour in the colonial area of Phnom Penh. Then, all guests will switch and experiment how to ride a cyclo, back to the hotel.

Dinner Cruise on the Mekong

Board a wooden boat in the late afternoon and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail while you sail on the Tonle Sap, along the busy Phnom Penh riverfront.  Once on the Mekong you will experience the delights of the rural countryside in the fading daylight and dinner will be served, accompanied by traditional Khmer Music.

Leather Puppet Theatre

Handmade leather figures - Sbaek Thom - are used to tell us the story of Ramayana, accompanied by traditional Khmer music.  This is one of the older forms of entertainment known in Cambodia, which the rulers of Angkor enjoyed during their days.

Lunch at the French Ngo "Pour un sourire d'enfant"

This French sponsored project provides education, vocational training, medical and social support for over 500 children who live on the massive Phnom Penh rubbish dump.  The project is set in a spacious complex near the dump on the outskirts of the city. Children are learning cooking, waiting etc. Their training restaurant is open to outside clients for training children.

Visit the National Dance ACademy

The Art of traditional dancing takes many years of practice and then only the best are allowed to perform before the king.  This was the case hundreds of years ago and still is like this today.  You will visit the "Ecole des Beaux Arts" where you can see the young dancers patiently practicing the gracious movements of the Art of Dancing.
